How a staff shortage grew into Workers in Holland.
What started as a summer shortage in a supermarket on the Dutch coast grew into a network between Spain and the Netherlands.
David van Vuure · Founder of Workers in Holland
The story of Workers in Holland started at the Albert Heijn in Callantsoog, on the coast of Noord-Holland, where staff ran short during the summer season.
Through contacts in Spain, the first Spanish workers came over. They came for one summer. The employers were happy, and soon friends, family and neighbours wanted to come too.
They were motivated, reliable and keen to work. The network kept growing, and in the end Workers in Holland grew out of it.
Over the past five years, more than 150 Spanish workers have found work in the Netherlands through us. They work in sectors such as hospitality, retail, logistics and construction.
Many of them stayed longer than planned. Some are still here, have made friends, improved their English and built up real work experience.
We know our people by name, we speak their language and we are there from the first conversation to their first day at work.
At the same time we help Dutch employers who struggle to find the right people. We keep it simple: good people, clear agreements and someone you can call.

What we stand for
Personal
We speak to every candidate ourselves, and every employer has one point of contact.
Selective
We do not place everyone who applies, and we sometimes say no to an employer. We would rather send fewer people who fit.
Straightforward
We tell you up front what it costs, how long it takes and what can go wrong.
Shared interest
A placement only works if both sides are happy. That is why we stay involved after the first day.
Our team
Behind Workers in Holland is a close team that specialises in bringing Spanish workers and Dutch employers together. David is the constant face: he speaks to the people we place himself, visits employers and is reachable when something comes up.
For someone from Spain, moving to the Netherlands is a big step. We think it matters that the step feels right and that an employer knows who is joining them. So for us it is not only about a CV, it is about the right match between person, job and employer.
“We believe you can only do this work well if you know both the candidate and the employer personally.”
The network
In Spain
Our team in Spain covers twelve regions, among them Murcia, Andalucía, Galicia, Asturias, Cataluña and Valencia.
In the Netherlands
We join the intake, we are there on the first working day and after that we are simply a phone call away. For contracts and payroll we work together with Werkhelden.
